‘I Am Jehovah Their God’

“Son of man,
I am sending you to the people of Israel,
to rebellious nations that have rebelled against me.
They and their forefathers have transgressed against me
down to this very day.”
“As for them, whether they listen or refuse to listen—
for they are a rebellious house—
they will certainly know that a prophet was among them.” Ezek. 2:2, 5.
***
“At the entrance of the eastern gate
of the house of Jehovah,”
Ezekiel saw “princes of the people”,
of whom he said:
“Her princes in her midst
are like wolves tearing prey;
they shed blood and kill people
to make dishonest gain.” Ezek. 10:19; 11:1; 22:27.
Whom, of which even Isaiah tragically mentioned:
“Your princes are stubborn and partners with thieves.
Every one of them loves a bribe and chases after gifts.
They do not grant justice to the fatherless,
And the legal case of the widow never reaches them.” Isa. 1:23.
Jehovah said to Ezekiel: “Son of man,
these are the men who are scheming evil and giving wicked advice in this city.”
“The city*.” (Lit., “She,” the city of Jerusalem,
where the Jews thought they would be protected.)
***
“Son of man, what is this proverb that you have in Israel
that says,
‘The days go by,
and every vision comes to nothing’?
Therefore say to them,
‘This is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah says:
“I will cause this saying to cease,
and they will no more use it as a proverb in Israel.”’
But tell them,
‘The days are near, and every vision will take place.’
For there will no longer be any false vision
or flattering divination within the house of Israel.
‘“For I, Jehovah, will speak.
Whatever word I speak will be done
without any more delay.
In your days, O rebellious house,
I will say the word and carry it out,”
declares the Sovereign Lord Jehovah.’” Ezek. 12:22-25.
***
““Blow a horn in Zion!
Shout a war cry in my holy mountain.
Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble,
For the day of Jehovah is coming!
It is near!”
“Jehovah will raise his voice before his army,
for his camp is very numerous.
For the one carrying out His word is mighty;
For the day of Jehovah is great and very awe-inspiring.
Who can endure it?”
“Yet even now,” declares Jehovah,
“return to me with all your hearts,
With fasting and weeping and wailing.
Rip apart your hearts, and not your garments,
And return to Jehovah your God,
For he is compassionate and merciful, slow to anger
and abundant in loyal love,
And he will reconsider the calamity.”
“Blow a horn in Zion!
Proclaim a fast; call for a solemn assembly.
Gather the people; sanctify the congregation.”
“Let the priests, the ministers of Jehovah, weep and say:
‘Do feel pity, O Jehovah, for your people;
Do not make your inheritance an object of scorn,
Letting the nations rule over them.
Why should the peoples say,
“Where is their God?”’
Then Jehovah will be zealous for his land
And show compassion on his people.
Jehovah will answer his people:
‘Here I am sending to you grain and new wine and oil,
And you will be fully satisfied;
I will no longer make you a reproach
among the nations.
I will drive the northerner far away from you;
I will disperse him to a dry and desolate wasteland,
With his vanguard toward the eastern sea
And his rear guard toward the western sea.
The foul smell from him will ascend,
The stench from him will keep ascending;
For He will do great things.’
Do not be afraid, O land.
Be joyful and rejoice,
for Jehovah will do great things.”
“You will surely eat to satisfaction,
And you will praise the name of Jehovah your God,
Who has done wonders in your behalf;
My people will never again be put to shame.
And you will have to know that I am in the midst of Israel
And that I am Jehovah your God—there is no other!
My people will never again be put to shame.
After that I will pour out my spirit
on every sort of flesh,
And your sons and your daughters will prophesy,
Your old men will dream dreams,
And your young men will see visions.
And even on my male slaves and female slaves
I will pour out my spirit
in those days.
And I will give wonders
in the heavens and on the earth,
Blood and fire and columns of smoke.
The sun will be turned into darkness
and the moon into blood
Before the coming of the great and awe-inspiring
day of Jehovah.”
“There will be signs
in the sun and moon and stars,
and on the earth anguish of nations
not knowing the way out because of the roaring of the sea
and its agitation.” Luke 21:25.
“Then the kings of the earth, the high officials, the military commanders, the rich, the strong, every slave, and every free person hid in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains.
And they keep saying to the mountains and to the rocks:
“Fall over us and hide us
from the face of the One seated on the throne
and from the wrath of the Lamb,
because the great day of their wrath has come,
and who is able to stand?” Rev. 6:15-17.
***
And everyone who calls on the name of Jehovah
will be saved;
For on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem
there will be those who escape, just as Jehovah has said,
The survivors whom Jehovah calls.” Joel 2:1, 11-21, 26-32.
“On Mount Zion
will be those who escape,
And it will be holy;
And the house of Jacob will take possession of the things
belonging to them.” Obad. 17.
***
“‘In that day I will raise up the booth of David
that is fallen,
I will repair the breaches,
And I will restore its ruins;
I will rebuild it as in the days of long ago,
So that they may take possession of what is remaining of Eʹdom,
And all the nations on whom my name has been called,’
declares Jehovah, who is doing this.” Amos 9:11, 12.
***
Promised: “I will never completely reject them
nor cast them away to the point of exterminating them,
which would violate my covenant with them,
I am Jehovah their God.”>/b> Lev. 26:44.
