Glorious sunlight displayed since upped shades didn’t wake me this day. Thunder played; lightning lit my room; rain pummeled my window pane. Reflected back– me lying abed; blanketed. On my table a cup streamed deliciousness. Tempted me to sip. Whipped cream, its top tipped. “Ah! Someone does care,” I thankfully quip.

Kim watched her daughter’s slow gait
up the back wooden kitchen stairs
her own personal emotions
to painfully navigate.

Kim knew too of a love grown cold.

She existed through a war
pleasuring soldiers for survival.
Yes, her youthful body
along with those older too
who were raped, bought, or sold–

‘Comfort women’.
Not to ‘Have and to hold’.

So mothers and daughters
grew bolder than bold
towards a lust driven
terribly through-in-through.

With many a sordid story
to go best forever ‘untold’…

Kim held pictures of aunts, nieces,
even uncles and friends
she’d eventually left behind

to find asylum
for her own life to defend.

There in Brazil she resettled with like kind
though anger and hatred fed her heart, head,
and mind.

But, now here in Atlanta
with daughter near at hand
and multi-cultures inhabiting
this ‘promised’ free land

she’d found security
in a brotherhood global.
Where actions elevated are pursued.
Divine. Righteous. And noble…

Sadly it took James, her husband’s death
as mankind’s collective horrendous treacherous theft

to rock her to her senses.
Made her toss aside divisive defenses
to allow hands and shoulders
to bond and mend.

Tearing down nationalistic fences

after a long bout with another anger
which left Kim curled into a tight little ball
in a cracked leather armchair

left empty in his library
located right down a narrow dark hall.

Exhausted. And completely bereft.
Upon a caring Creator
Kim gladly learned

she could always
any time call:

“Show me favor, O God,
according to your loyal love.

Blot out my transgressions
according to your great mercy.

Thoroughly wash me from my error,
And cleanse me from my sin.

For I am well-aware of my transgressions,
And my sin is always before me.

Against you—you above all—I have sinned;
What is bad in your eyes I have done.

Therefore, you are righteous when you speak,
You are right in your judgment.

Look! I was born guilty of error,
And my mother conceived me in sin.

Look!
You find pleasure in truth in the inner person;

Teach my innermost self true wisdom.
Purify me from my sin with hyssop, so that I will be clean;
Wash me, so that I will be whiter than snow.

Let me hear sounds of joy and rejoicing,
So that the bones you crushed will rejoice.

Turn your face away from my sins,
And wipe away all my errors.

Create in me a pure heart, O God,
And put within me a new spirit, a steadfast one.

Do not cast me out from your presence;
And do not take your holy spirit away from me.

Restore to me the joy of your salvation;
Stir within me a willingness to obey you.

I will teach transgressors your ways,
So that sinners will return to you.

Save me from bloodguilt, O God,
the God of my salvation,

So that my tongue
may joyfully declare your righteousness.

O Jehovah, open my lips,
So that my mouth may declare your praise.

For you do not want a sacrifice—otherwise I would give it;
You do not find delight in a whole burnt offering.

The sacrifices pleasing to God are a broken spirit;
A heart broken and crushed, O God, you will not reject.”
 Ps. 51:1-17…

To Be Cont’d.

“Welcome one another,

just as the Christ also welcomed you,
with glory to God in view.” Rom. 15:7.

Each individual flower
a beauty seen

whether felt as baby’s breathe
placed as a lovely filler

between
or center staged

roses, tulips, peace lilies..

A sigh from a loveliness
expelled because of a ‘collective’ lovely
scent

sent into the world

sighted
then inhaled

by bodies bent over
or crawling from power’s spent.

Caused: Appreciative eyes
to gleam with unshed/shed tears

down cheeks
to stream

since your unity
on this globe of divisiveness

excels

This vision
of ‘togetherness’ is meant
to propel others
to exert strenuous effort
to beauteously insert themselves
into this gracious precious space
where each flower is ‘watered’

by

God’s Word

and His ‘spirit’ prayed for
graces everyone. Impelled

by a loving ‘brotherhood’
already living ‘Luther’s’ dream…

***

Welcome
to Jah’s ‘family’!

Keep yourselves
in the race!.

Expend all efforts
to keep your space.

Eternity can become your possession
if treated as such–a Divine ‘Gift’.

Not just as a disposable opportunity
to squander. Your precious days

to become as only a little time

Lent…

“But those hoping in Jehovah will regain power.

They will soar on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary;

They will walk and not tire out.” Isa 40:31.
