Yesterday (contest Creative Poetry Prompt – Ammapoet)

Yesterday
I,
a rose,
with petals
perfumed–
a spring meadow…
Free
as blown dandelion seeds
carried away;
in deed,
speedily
dark gloom
imparted from your heart
stripped my sepals;
de-bloomed me…
Today,
in horror
I mirror a wretched thorn…
Befuddled…
Before me
circulating puddles
not to reflect
any blossom
which lovingly adorns…

Today
I
wore
your
words
on
my
feet
cause,
I
like
how
tall
they
made
me
feel.

Honey, do not let your beautiful mind become a battlefield.
Just because someone has shown you their weapons
does not mean you have to accept the war. Those who
try to break you are expecting you to be in fight mode.
Conquer them with your peace…

Remember
you were light first,
the body came
way after.

Hello Poets,
I would like to introduce you to another beloved poet of mine, Della Hicks-Wilson. She is a black British poet and writer of Caribbean descent. Her self-published works have garnered more than a million likes and shares to date. Small Cures is her first collection, please click the link below to learn more about this deeply touching writer. The first poem here has always stuck with me, so simple, yet so deeply moving and couldn’t we all use words as poets to make us ‘feel tall’ in times of self doubt? I encourage you to create a poem that uplifts and inspires you in a simplistic way that compliments these above.
