I Forgave (Contest Saudade – Hats)

Joy…

Felt effervescent. Light.
A butterfly’s wings sighted

in soft flight

not felt… Your presence.
A delight of embraces, kisses,
pirouette twirls.

Tosses into air; squeals
frightened by near misses…

Shoes tied in eye-to-eye kneels
not recalled… Loving responses

to a little girl’s appeals…

No fabulous feelings for a past
maybe best forgotten

if potent in reveal.

If shadows darken a door
not of cherished praise

walks, talks, hearts blended,
bonds made along beaches paved

with shells shared…

I forgave.

Write a poem for contest Saudade – Hats
Saudade – Is a deep emotional state of nostalgic or profound melancholic longing for something or someone that one cares for and/or loves. Moreover, it often carries a repressed knowledge that the object of longing might never be had again. It is the recollection of feelings, experiences, places, or events that once brought excitement, pleasure, and well-being, which now trigger the senses and make one experience the pain of separation from those joyous sensations.

Write me about your Saudade.
