Gone Mankind to Endless Sleep? (contest Randomly – Bangtar)

As hills uprise
ablaze
overnight
arises a haze burning irises…
Smokey shadows without falter
arrive in bitter haste to erase any tomorrows seen…
My heartbeat at once raced;
its pace cast my breath into breathless
inside my breast;
inside I caved; on knees to fall
for on who was I to lean…
Fear choked down my courage.
It breathed; alive… Ugly.
Like phlegm hawked up–green.
I fed it my faith and hope.
It swallowed them swiftly
then showed me mankind’s grave.
A promise it gave
to help me slip into this common hole
of which I came upon
to crave…
A
for
gone
conclusion: What man can save?
As visions of grasslands grand
with threaded down paths to futures paved
with golden leaves
and bees buzzing promising honey
across the span
disappeared…
Appeared an angry sun
that torched the field…
It fled after scorching verdant land
to further afield…
Wildfires begun
thought eternal before the eyes of this human
beholding an inferno created.
Rivers rushing by a Creator’s command
seen as trickles turned to gushing
down dark cheeks and others hated;
streaming constant
from under lids hooded. Bodies agitated.
Too afraid to peek
into perceived total darkness
toward a light to seek.
Felt
too steep
inclines slippery for naked bruised feet.
Envisioned: Gone mankind
to endless sleep.

I awoke during summer’s heat
to words of utmost sweetness not whispered:
“Know that wisdom is good for you.
If you find it, you will have a future
And your hope will not be cut off.” Prov. 24:14.
It broke despondency’s spell of singular deplete
for ‘accurate knowledge’ spoken bears persistent repeat.*

Abandoned queens and shattered dreams
Hope drowning deep beneath the fires
Peace a ticking bomb in the grassland
Cold waters that’s sour as home brewed beer
Tomorrow is hopeless in tearful eyes
The shadows of the mountains approaching
Is getting more darker like the Universe
In there grassland waters stopped drowning
The grass is brown by the summer’s heat
Feet unsettled in walks taken to paradise
Our crossroads lead to nowhere we been
There’s no afterlife or life after death we wished
