Peace

peace–

a mind not at war.
emotions settled.

a hope valid;
lovely. I adore
its promise tranquil

free, solid and sure.

peace–

though my surroundings
i’d rather not explore.

hopeless, dark
groping victims for relief
from increasing violence

blind in vision, seemingly forevermore.

peace–

allows me to proceed
daily at ease from anxiety

although bills persist:
health insurance costs exist
food, clothing, shelter mean

sometimes family: coexist.

peace–

permits me to share
with enemies

love. to care
for friends, family, nature
during increasing natural disasters,

circulating hatred forced to bare.

peace–

gives me joy,
my heart to sing

though funerals more often
we attend to stream as a river downstream
flows. this way a human life temporarily goes

yet, in his memory… He assuredly knows.

peace–

a vision of a coming resurrection
of ‘righteous and unrighteous’ I see

as i sit on a sofa
and enjoy a ‘spot of tea’
as the British will say…

although, I prefer a strong dark coffee.

“‘For I well know the thoughts that I am thinking toward you,’
declares Jehovah,

‘thoughts of peace, and not of calamity,

to give you a future and a hope.

And you will call me and come and pray to me,
and I will listen to you.’” Jer. 29:11, 12.
Write a poem for contest Peace – GeraniumBlue
It’s Sunday…. for me, peace is about seeing the sunlight in my little garden, watching the birds excitedly playing in the bowls of water I put out. It’s a feeling, a sense of being… a sudden feeling of okay-ness. Hard to explain it but… can you?

Blow my mind please… I am looking for free verse or rhyme but no brevity please. Love them but I think this poem should be at least 200 words long. I hate to do it, but I will remove short writes that have just been written fast without much thought. Tell me all about peace for you…. how it feels, what it is, who it is, where it is… let’s talk about soul food today. Hope you can rise to the challenge and I am looking forward to reading what you can give me.

Good luck everyone! I judge fairly and without bias and I very much dislike autorank
