Uninvited Guests

Uninvited Guests

As Monday mimics Wednesday
in pretend after the weekend
and Tuesday appears to be Thursday’s twin,

as Saturday arrives before Friday
in a once ordinary week’s spin,

as each day it becomes more difficult
to comprehend its designated spot
in a seven day cycle of habitual rotation

because a fog has moved in…

It arrived uninvited, not a
guest,

I guess I must have opened
the door and left it

Ajar…when I let out daily news
refusing to it continually peruse

with it battering my heart’s empathy
with its constancy of violence and abuse,
famine, earthquake, suicide, fire, flood, and misuse
of appropriated funds…

I permitted a form of confusion, apathy,
lethargy to also enter and dangerously explore.

They seemed to have settled in
and cracked open windows

to permit exhaustion to permeate.

For their exit I implored a higher being.

All day
now

I am awakened
by my previously gentle snores…

Then after understanding. . .

The way I am aiming my blows is so as not to be striking the air.—1 Cor. 9:26.

A clear plan that you put in writing can help you turn your decisions into action. (1 Cor. 14:40) You can prepare a daily to-do list and arrange the items in the order you intend to handle them. This can help you not only to complete what you start but also to get more done in less time. But you will need to exert yourself. It takes effort to follow your plan and complete what you start. (Rom. 12:11) The apostle Paul told Timothy to “continue applying” himself and to “persevere” in becoming a better teacher. That advice applies equally to other spiritual goals.—1 Tim. 4:13, 16. w19.11 29-30 ¶15-16 © 42 minutes ago, Lucretia McCloud    coronavirus • society • sad • teen • misc
