O’ Where Was Your Love for Me (contest Sonnet on the subject of lost love. – Gingerandhoney)

O’ Where Was Your Love for Me (contest Sonnet on the subject of lost love. – Gingerandhoney)

A Husband strapped with unrequited love.
A stubborn nation; choleric tempered.
In anger–king appointed from above.
Though wifely, His her petition rendered.

“We must like other nations earthly be.
A human strong king; to govern our land.”
I listened; for rejected me for he.
True loyalty–claimed. Adultery. Expands.

“So, bear my fury! No more tolerance.”
“These kings bring pleasure; no laws do measure.”
“I fought for you in justice–My defense.”
“You exclusive need! We need no pressure.”

Therefore, I free you of my love for thee.
I’ve found another of integrity!
