Ambassadors & Envoys: Protected; Not Disrespected (contest Express your thoughts – Jane Hopper)
to our distressed motherland
perfect–of noble birth. Worthy
of acceptance by princes felt grand
standing
immemorial.
Hated, he immediately became by ambitious man. For he represented a Sovereign disdained by a faithless son in temporary command:
Said Jesus of this invisible enemy: “I will not speak with you much more, for the ruler of the world is coming, and he has no hold on me. But for the world to know that I love the Father, I am doing just as the Father has commanded me to do.” John 14:30, 31.
*
So, this “man of noble birth traveled to a distant land (heaven) to secure kingly power for himself and to return.
Calling ten of his slaves, he gave them ten minas and told them,
‘Do business with these until I come.’
But his citizens hated him and sent out a body of ambassadors after him to say, ‘We do not want this man to become king over us.’
*
How about… you?
*
Rahab wisely did come to understand
how beneficial for herself and family
to protect ambassadors or envoys
of which she heard beforehand:
Defeating enemies miraculously:
“By faith they passed through the Red Sea as on dry land,
but when the Egyptians attempted it, they were swallowed up.
*
By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after the people had marched around them for seven days.
By faith Rahab the prostitute did not perish with those who acted disobediently, because she received the spies in a peaceable way.” Heb. 11:29-31.
*
Gibeonites* were good examples too of ones suing successfully for peace by taking action; tactful.
Not arrogantly warring against a nation backed by the Highest Hand.
They wisely gave an incoming powerful strong righteous government its undeniable just due.
*
“The inhabitants of Gibeon also heard what Joshua had done to Jericho and Aʹi.
So they acted shrewdly and put provisions into worn-out sacks on their donkeys, along with worn-out wineskins that had burst and had been mended;
they also had worn-out and patched sandals on their feet, and they were wearing worn-out garments. All the bread of their provisions was dry and crumbly.
Then they went to Joshua at the camp at Gilʹgal and said to him and the men of Israel:
“We have come from a distant land. Now make a covenant with us.” Joshua 9:3-6.
*
On-the-other-hand, are those like Hanun the king of Ammon
disrespecting a loyal king, David. Friend of his father. Faithful was he.
In flagrant violation of the unwritten international custom of respect toward envoys, after his father’s death, he dealt with David’s envoys sent in a gesture of friendship, disdainfully. Leading to war,
unnecessarily.
*
“So Haʹnun took the servants of David and shaved off half their beards and cut their garments in half at their buttocks and sent them away.
When David was told, he at once sent men to meet them, because the men had been deeply humiliated; and the king told them: “Stay in Jericho until your beards grow back, and then return.”
In time the Ammonites saw that they had become a stench to David, so the Ammonites sent and hired Syrians of Bethrehob and Syrians of Zobah, 20, 000 foot soldiers; and the king of Maacah, with 1, 000 men; and from Ishtob, 12, 000 men.
When David heard about it, he sent Joʹab and the entire army, including his mightiest warriors.
And the Ammonites went out and drew up in battle formation at the entrance of the city gate”. 2 Sam. 10:4-8.
*
So, as ‘messengers of peace’ true Christians
neutral
in the earth
must be.
Given ‘freedom of passage’
to act in behalf of their King
as devoted subjects
internationally.
*
“Therefore, we are ambassadors substituting for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us. As substitutes for Christ, we beg:
“Become reconciled to God.” 2 Cor. 5:20.
*
“Moreover, bring these enemies of mine here who did not want me to become king over them and execute them in front of me.’” Luke 19:27.
