Grateful For

poised to reflect pasts
to blantantly remind
of previous doles of refuse
I’d sought to leave behind.
In my mind useless shadows
of images best left unscreened
of hideous pictures tainted
I’d fought against
in life’s nightmarish scenes.
In my mind images
difficult to forget
as I pile upon pleasant thoughts
as treasures to daily collect.
I try to bury baggage heavy
which saps energy to forward soar.
So I raise my lids to heaven’s skies
for wisdom I do ernestly implore.
To stretch ahead in my glorious race
for life forevermore
in righteousness
divested of sin and death.
No more to sigh and mourn
over famine, pestilences,
diseases or war.
A lovely generous
Ransom Paid
I’m eternally
wholeheartedly,
yes, wondrously:
Grateful For.

but one thing is certain:
Forgetting the things behind and stretching forward to the things ahead”. Phil 3:13.
