Contentment

[ Contentment can flee swiftly ]

Contentment can flee swiftly
as a bird frightened from its security
found in a full-leafed shady tree

when suddenly faced
with the jarring swell
of blaring negativity.

Repeatedly.

So well-said these winsome words:

“A lover of silver will never be satisfied with silver, nor a lover of wealth with income…This too is futility.” Eccl. 5:10… I’ve thoughtfully heard.

As this world sells wealth is the ‘key’
to lead a global herd to stampede
for complete sought after me-first victory.

While contentment frees
one’s mind and heart to be:

generous, hospitable, loving, kind
to any and all impartially.

“To be sure,

there is great gain in godly devotion along with contentment.

For we have brought nothing into the world,
and neither can we carry anything out.

So, having food and clothing,
we will be content with these things.” 1Pet. 6:6-8.

These words daily my ears as a dong do ring
to counterattack against my eyes being flashed
by advertisers sublimal and blatant lures
that can

in after affects

seemingly eternally
with anxious tears sting

due to unnecessary material possessions
bought into one’s life

as ‘white elephants’
to monopolize one’s total being.
