‘I Am Rich’! (Contest by T.M. Higgins)
Not hot nor cold, yes I see, by your lukewarm works or deeds,
“You are miserable”, pitiful, poor, “blind and naked.”
“I am going to vomit you out of my mouth.” Waited,
I did for the congregation of Laodicea.
Advised, them, to buy gold, clothes, eye salve in expedia
To become rich, spiritually, clothed, holy; to truth see.
Said, the ‘Amen’, ‘faithful and true witness’ in prophecy.
“‘All those for whom I have affection, I reprove”. Correct.
“So be zealous and repent.” Select Christ to you protect.
“Look! I am standing at the door and knocking.” To implore,
Anyone hearing my voice, to open the door. Ignore
Not my invitation, to with me dine, within your home.
“Take the evening meal with him” I will, with friends or alone.
Welcome me, to help you with your ‘lackluster’ quality.
Then, rich spiritual blessings you can forever receive.
No longer to be deceived by material riches
Which blinds faithless one’s mind to spiritual darkness confined.
Words and actions comprised of love and compassion, divine
Secures futures of reformed ones now living in meekness.

This scripture is your prompt.
Jesus made this statement in Revelation 3:20
“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: If any man shall hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”
I want 20 lines or less with good cadence and rhyme.
Use equal stanzas.
Don’t just write about the door. What does it mean and why is Jesus knocking?
