Why Choose Life (contest Choose Life – Michaels Ink) 1st draft
But why bother to choose at all…
when, in my best efforts, I trip to fail
again and again
falling into sins temporarily enjoyable
momentarily to lusciously voyage or physically dip
slipping on masks or face-timing
on land or sea
virtually
with whomever is waiting or unwilling
to sensually or violently erotically grip;
sip, sip, sipping to drunken slips on concrete
to awaken black to blue with enamels further broken to bits
while escaping reality
unconsciousness to further pursue;
or clipping pockets, bank accounts,
stripping characters, clothes, minds
lying to gain money and/or fame
in society to climb
using baby or brother
finances to find
while our earth loyally spins
although, greedy businesses rip our environment or natural resources to rob naive consumers morally blind?

“I have seen something further under the sun,
that the swift do not always win the race,
nor do the mighty win the battle,
nor do the wise always have the food,
nor do the intelligent always have the riches,
nor do those with knowledge always have success,
because time and unexpected events overtake them all.” Eccl. 9:11.
So again, why bother to choose
when most times often
I’m bound to lose?
Just take life as it comes
and roll with its punches for survival’s sake
or booze it up for . . . what’s really at stake?
Just take, take, take,
as all others do
for ‘me-first’ is… ah!… it too is a choice
for someone to make… right?
I see… though I don’t…
the future is not clear to me…

“But the nations became wrathful, and your own wrath came, and the appointed time came for the dead to be judged and to reward your slaves the prophets and the holy ones and those fearing your name, the small and the great, and to bring to ruin those ruining the earth.” Rev. 11:18.

“See, I do put before you today life and good, and death and bad.”
“I take the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you today that I have put life and death before you, the blessing and the curse; and you must choose life so that you may live,
you and your descendants,
by loving Jehovah your God, by listening to his voice, and by sticking to him,
for he is your life and by him you will endure a long time in the land that Jehovah swore to give to your forefathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”
Deut. 30:15, 19, 20.

Even today, we in effect say:
“By choosing to love God, to listen to his voice, and to stick to him, you will in effect be choosing life—life everlasting on a paradise earth.”… The reason why Adam and Eve were given birth.
No need to fear… for God promises:
“A generation is going, and a generation is coming,
But the earth remains forever.
The sun rises, and the sun sets;
Then it hurries back to the place where it rises again.
The wind goes south and circles around to the north;
Round and round it continuously circles; the wind keeps making its rounds.
All the streams flow into the sea, yet the sea is not full.
To the place from which the streams flow, there they return so as to flow again.” Eccl. 1:4-7.
Deuteronomy 30:19
19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
I’m looking for poems that can tie this scripture into the global warming threat we now face. This is the choice we face, life or death for us and or children
As always surprise and amaze me with your writing
