If Only Alive! (contest The Joy of Living)
I dream…
laughter. Screams.
Various themes
unconsciously
of lived or feared–
Realities.
Awake
I stream life through seasons seen…
death in winter, life in spring
beauty of fall and all the fun that summer brings.
Alone or with
slow or swift
I enjoy it all… after resurfacing
when I slipped into the lake
and almost drowned
I found breathing a sweet luxury
surrounded by cool water
rippling away leaves
over rocks
a tranquil sound
a lovely breeze
drying me off
as I stood up
after brushing off
bruised scraped knees
no one saw
of this I was pleased
as I heard their continued laughter in play
their joy caused my heart to sway
since thankful I became even more that day…
to see many suns set and rise
under glowing varied moons
able to think and analyze
to bake
to sing
to bath
to bring to others a gift chosen
to brighten their eyes
comprised
of my love of them
of life
in imitation of a ‘God of Love’
despite a world’s spinning violence and strife
generous
to the point of sending his Son
to die a death of one despised
so that we can endlessly
live our lives
as He originally purposed:
Perfectly in an earthly
even now spiritual
Paradise.
