Reasoning ability, sound, keeps one grounded
when a storm threatens our lives. Safety, we’ve found it.

Profound, Christ’s advice: First count the actual cost.
Expounded, he, of tragedy: Unfinished–Lost.

There one kneels confounded: Why did I not succeed?
Onlookers surrounding them. Harsh, in wicked mockery.

Yes, common sense speaks: “Think. Prepare. Act. Complete.” For, in this finality… Life indeed is sweet!

So, here Jesus does to his ‘true’ disciples state
changes, sacrifices, eternal they must make.
Not materially oriented. Mistake.
Or, by self-interest motivated–dictates.

Shown,… an altruistic better way, by our Christ
who unselfishly ministered to others. Then
sacrificed his precious life blood at pronounced price
by tragic ignorant hands of arrogant men.

Demonstrated: Spiritual values as rare ‘pearl’.
Fleshly desires alienate one from God.
‘Life-giving’ truths eternal learned in a new world
Jesus’ ‘sheep’ gain. While, ‘goats’ become, underfoot, ‘sod’.

So, one must say ‘good-bye to all his belongings’
for Christ’s sake. A true disciple totes ‘torture stake.

Joyful in sacred service. Not living ‘extreme’.
Careful and deliberate to live ‘within’ means.

“Keep our eyes, not on the things seen, but on the things
unseen. For the things seen are temporary,” flings.

Like an eagle that soars is money with swift wings–
to fly. “But the things unseen are everlasting.”

Brings happiness to real spiritual ‘beings’. Blessed.
Their lives calmer. Their emotions less daily stressed.

Doing Jah’s will as pleasurable as good ‘food’.
Though this world churns turmoil we keep a joyful mood
maintained by a sure ‘hope’ paradise to gain.
Heeding ‘righteous principles’ to love. Not disdain.

Yes, we’ve counted the cost. True wisdom renowned, sought. Recognized, it truly takes: Ourselves, to forsake.
