Freedom of Choice (contest Freedom of Choice – Earthpassion)
Limits loving thoughtful set let happiness spring
As a geyser sprouting joyful towards bright skies
Freely to praise. While wary of debris which lies
In wait for those who’ll willingly carry this waste.
Tossed into active holes. Forced?… Geysers silent… Closed.
No longer permitted ‘free-will’ to happy use
When aggravated others freedoms do abuse
To enable themselves liberties uncharted
On lands designated for general peruse.
Conditions altered close environments do affect
If affectations instigators do perfect
To alter opinions, actions, hearts to effect
Choices offered all to communally select.
Is this freedom or free-will globally granted
When coerced to unwanted positions, slanted,
By unconventional means mass people confuse;
To personal desires, others’, disabuse?
Whose considerations more valuable deserve
Total attention? Whose needs more worthy served?
Is there One who’s concerned with justice for all men?
RIghteous laws designed to equally all observe?
Yes!… Our Almighty Creator plus His dear Son
Will ‘freedom of choice’ everlastingly preserve!
Something to think about in all seriousness, or even on the humorous side, but please keep this as the focal point. 4 to 24 lines, in rhyme please. Would love to read your creations on this subject. Strong language and emotion is fine, but please do keep it civil, no adult, bashing or crudeness. I look forward to the results. Happy New Year and happy penning.
“Consider Jehovah’s self-restraint from a different angle. If you had unlimited power, do you think you might, at times, be tempted to make people do things your way? Jehovah, with all his power, does not coerce people to serve him. Even though serving God is the only way to everlasting life, Jehovah does not force us into such service. Rather, he kindly dignifies each individual with freedom to choose. He warns of the consequences of bad choices and tells of the rewards of good choices. But the choice itself, he leaves to us. (Deuteronomy 30:19, 20) Jehovah simply has no interest in service performed out of coercion or out of morbid fear of his awesome power. He seeks those who will serve him willingly, out of love.—2 Corinthians 9:7.”
