Lullabies

Lullabies (Contest Brevity- comatose – Christopher Staab)

Song sung
traditionally begun
pacify a burgeoning sum:

Strum us sweet words.

Sing lyrics bearing much repeat
as fingers snap; we tap our feet.

Let us dance exuberantly
in festively colored crowded streets
with a band bent on palpating hearts
with a strong vibrant incessant beat.

We shall toss our coins
heaven high
into star lit then dusk dawn skies
among revelries
yes, sensual cries

burying memories
of tragedies
brought to loved ones dear
who wastefully die

upon stained fields

naturally yielding
blossoms colorful
delighting even blinded eyes…

Don’t preach a sermon of responsibility.

Free us

of all personal… accountability!
