Shopping Spree (Contest If you won a shopping spree) 1st draft
I’d think of ‘you’s’ before of ‘me’
since greater ‘happy’ I would be
to give you joy sets sadness free.
I’d buy ‘businesses’ to employ
my nieces and nephews,
other young girls and responsible boys.
I’d buy a ‘resident’ for ‘elderly’ ones
to spend waning ‘twilight’ days among
hearts through hands warming
as healing suns.
I’d buy my cat another kitten
to play with or love in a cat’s world smitten.
I’d buy my mom another ‘me’
to have forever to comfort and love ‘she’
although, not a robotic entity
her to oversee, if I’m not available
because of death–an enemy.
I’d buy my brothers videos
of all my favorite ‘quotes’ not ‘scolds’
to aid them forever to behold
a future more valuable
than their
most cherished
monetary ‘goals’
if not already possessed
since they do hold
my love forever
in my sisterly soul.
I’d buy my ‘in-laws’ whatever they’d need
to help them to continue to ‘succeed’
in pursuit of constant spiritual ‘deeds’
not just because they did this for me
but I desire them too to live endlessly.
To my many ‘associates’ and ‘friends’
through whom my life I’ve come to depend
I’d buy their present bills to end
so time they’d have to joyously spend
in helping others an eternity to gain
through whole-souled efforts daily maintained–
time personal for Jah to willfully lend
since profound gratitude He does show
to all, Him, because of love,
loyalty comes to know.
I’d buy my enemies a great ‘need’
to stop and consider ‘love’ not ‘greed’.
Nor ‘jealousies’ which do impede
a cohesive world where ‘peace’ could lead.
I would indeed buy my ‘husband’
of twenty-six years
a sprinter to travel as a temporary ‘home’
for an enlightened period to calmly ‘roam’
along a land rich which to man belongs
with me beside he in bodily form
or as a framed picture his dashboard to adorn
though never actually solitary, alone…
I’d buy him tranquility. No stress to breed tears.
I’d buy him the ‘New World’… yesterday
with no human frailties which does not fail to heighten humanities’ fears.
Now, last but not least
for me… I’d buy a little more time
to remember by name
in card or poem
those who brought me ease
after I was born;
I’d individually, you,
thankfully proclaim.
As we try to do
in imitation of Christ’s
greater degree
for our Eternal Holy Father’s
Grand illustrious name.
Good morning,
For this contest write about the things you would do if you won a shopping spree. You can come up with any amount of” shopping spree cash” to add in your poem. I would like some humor in this poem.
